If you’re one of the many people who find legal jargon difficult to comprehend, take heart. We’ve provided two links to help our clients understand and interpret the Uniform Prudent Investor Act (UPIA).
1. This first link, a Summary of the Prudent Investor Act by the Uniform Law Commission, provides a detailed explanation of the law’s intent and how the law relates to trustees and fiduciaries.
2. The second link, The Uniform Prudent Investor Act – Annotated by Lee Anke, is an annotated version of the UPIA Model Act. The Model Act was promulgated to the states for adoption in 1994 and serves as the basis for the implementation of the UPIA by many states. Lee Anke’s highlighting and notes provide additional commentary as to how to comply with the law. This document will help you understand and prepare to meet the many requirements of the UPIA.
